Japan develops LEDs that are not eye-catching

Japan Showa Denko Co., Ltd. has developed LED chips that can reduce the amount of blue light emitted by personal computers and smartphone screens by 95%. Blu-rays are thought to cause eye strain or sleep disturbances, so protective glasses that block the passage of blue light are welcome. Showa Denko plans to realize the productization of new LED chips in 2014 and to develop demand for LCD screens and LED lighting. At present, LED lighting and liquid crystal display mainly use blue LED as a light source. The blue light emitted by the blue LED is considered to be the main cause of the symptoms of dry eyes and difficulty falling asleep. Showa Denko combines LED chips of three colors of purple, yellow and dark green to obtain the same effect as the blue LED light source. The brightness of the conventional magenta LED cannot be used as a light source such as illumination, but Showa Denko has improved the brightness by its own technology. Since blue LEDs are not used, blue light can be reduced by more than 95. It is said that although the price is too high, reaching 2~3 times of the blue LED, when it is used for lighting and LCD products, the price of the product itself is expected to increase by 2~30%. Showa Denko has also been producing LED chips before, but does not produce blue LEDs. The company hopes to use new LED chips as a substitute to explore market demand. It is planned to use the existing equipment of Chichibu Office located in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. In addition to the LCD screen, it is expected to be applied to the lighting of offices and desks.
