From the New Lenox FPD Facebook page: A serious incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a pickup truck veered off Route 30 and crashed into two New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) vehicles on district property. The collision caused significant damage to the two department vehicles, which were primarily used by the Fire and Life Safety Division. The crash happened just after 1 p.m. at NLFPD Station 1, located at 261 E. Maple Street. One individual was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, though no firefighters were injured in the incident. “We are very thankful no one was seriously injured in this crash,†said Chief Steve Engledow. “Vehicles can be replaced, but our team is safe.†Although there is no major structural damage to the building, some landscaping and exterior lighting were affected. The cause of the incident is still under investigation by local authorities. Photos from the scene show the extent of the damage to the 2002 Chevy Suburban and the 2006 Ford Expedition.
