The Chinese bus brand Shen Long is imported in South Korea. The volume has increased greatly and the development momentum has been highly vigilant for Korean auto companies.
Shenlong Bus is produced by Shanghai Shenlong Bus Co., Ltd., which was established in 2005. From May 2013, Shenlong Bus sells medium-sized buses in the Korean market through South Korea’s sales subsidiary, Shenlong, established in Korea. As of the first half of 2014, South Korea's Shenlong has sold 200 vehicles. In the second half of the year, the company plans to sell 400 buses. In 2015, it plans to increase sales to 1,500 units.
According to South Korea's "Seoul Economy" news, South Korea's Shenlong signed a working agreement with the Mokpo city government on the use of Mokpo Newport on the 30th to pave the way for auto imports in advance. The head of South Korea’s Shen Long stated that after the company began importing and selling in 2013, it had not done any special publicity, but instead upgraded its competitiveness with a unique 25-seater model. The company plans to target the niche market and further increase sales.
The person in charge also said that the Shenlong Bus DUEGOEX currently being sold in South Korea is a 25-seat passenger car, which is jointly developed by South Korea's Shenlong and Shanghai Shenlong. This model incorporates Korean technology, parts, and manpower from China and is tailored to the Korean market. This car has a spacious body, seat design, and luggage space, so it is favored by the Korean tourist bus market and travel companies. In 2015, the company plans to import 15 vans, etc., and gradually develop more niche markets with new models.
On the other hand, in 2013, the size of the Korean medium-sized passenger car market was 3,832, of which Hyundai Motor sold 3,239 units, which almost monopolized the market. It is reported that Hyundai is paying close attention to South Korea's development trend.
