Grill Veggies High in Vitamin C for Immune System Support

Grill Veggies Rich in Vitamin C for Stronger Immune Health

8 minute read | Recipe

When it comes to maintaining a strong immune system and overall wellness, what we eat plays a huge role. Our daily food choices impact our health in ways we might not even realize. That’s why understanding the difference between “junk food” and “health foods” is so important.

Vegetables high in vitamin C are one of the best natural allies when it comes to boosting immunity. And when grilled properly on a stainless steel PGS Grill, they not only retain their flavor but also lock in essential nutrients like vitamin C. In this post, I’ll explain why vitamin C is so beneficial and share a simple, tasty recipe that you can make on your grill.

Why Vitamin C is Key for Immune Support

Vitamin C is more than just a nutrient—it's a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the body from harmful free radicals. It supports skin health, wound healing, and even boosts collagen production. But its most well-known benefit is its ability to strengthen the immune system, helping reduce the severity and duration of colds and other viral infections.

Here are some of the top vegetable sources of vitamin C:

  • Broccoli: A half-cup provides around 51 mg of vitamin C—nearly 57% of the daily value.
  • Brussels Sprouts: Half a cup delivers about 54% of your daily vitamin C needs.
  • Cauliflower: One head contains over 283 mg of vitamin C, making it one of the most nutrient-dense veggies.
  • Chili Peppers: Green peppers have more vitamin C than red ones, with 106 mg per serving compared to 65 mg.
  • Sweet Yellow Bell Peppers: Fully ripe, they offer up to 152% of your daily vitamin C requirement.
  • Tomatoes: A small tomato gives you nearly a third of your daily vitamin C needs.

Now that you know which veggies to choose, the next step is how to prepare them in a way that preserves their nutrients and enhances their taste. Grilling is a great option, especially if you use a quality stainless steel grill like the PGS Grill, which locks in flavors and vitamins.
