Shell acquires LNG fuel for two LNG dual fuel powered cruise ships
Recently, Aida Cruises of Germany announced that it has signed an LNG supply agreement with Shell to supply LNG fuel for two LNG dual fuel powered cruise ships "AIDAprima" and "AIDAperla".
Under the contract, Shell will become the exclusive strategic partner of Aida Cruises, providing LNG fueling services at all ports operated by the ship. The ports currently being prepared include Hamburg, Southampton, Le Havre, Rotterdam and Zeebrügge, which used to transport LNG fuel to trucks by truck.
Maarten Wetselaar, president of the Royal Dutch Shell Integrated Gas Business, said, “A ship carrying 7,000-8,000 passengers uses the same amount of fuel as a small city with 30,000 people.â€
