This is from Larry Shapiro: I was in the area when the 7th Battalion arrived at a working fire in a three-story brick apartment building located at 3111 W. Diversey. The fire had extended to the rear porches and into a two-story house behind the building on Troy Street. The crew on scene requested a Box Alarm, and additional units quickly responded to help bring the fire under control. I arrived before the Box Alarm companies and found crews already working to knock down hotspots and prevent the fire from spreading further. It was clear that the initial response was swift and effective.
