Ding Yuhua: In recent years, with the continuous increase in the production and sales of automobiles, the Chinese tire industry has achieved rapid development and has now become the world's largest tire producer. In 2011, China’s total tire production exceeded 450 million.

China is at a critical stage in the development of the tire industry. It is necessary to accelerate the transformation and upgrade of the tire industry, improve the level of industrial development, and be in line with international standards. This is a tough battle for the "12th Five-Year Plan."

However, at present, there is a low level of overcapacity in the domestic tire industry. There are also deficiencies or lags in technical regulations and related standards. The phenomenon of homogenization of products, equipment, technology, and markets is more prominent. Enterprises that are busy with price competition still do not have real technology research and development. The main hand. Under such circumstances, the transformation and upgrading of industries and technological innovation are all the more pressing.

Tire World Net: Has this situation affected Chinese tire companies to participate in international competition?

Ding Yuhua: Yes. In particular, the financial crisis in 2008 and the United States' “China Tyre Protection Case” in 2009 all brought serious challenges to the domestic tire industry.

The “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” transformation and upgrading is a “hard battle” and it is necessary to win it. First, companies must take science and technology innovation as their driving force to completely change the development model of enterprises in the direction of increment; second, the state must adopt standards, policies and regulations. Starting with systems, strongly promote and strengthen supervision. Only by focusing on enterprise innovation and promoting the cooperation of the state will enable the entire industry to undergo qualitative changes.

Tire World Net: At present, safety, energy saving and environmental protection have become the development trend of the global automotive tire industry. What are your suggestions in this regard?

Ding Yuhua: Tire is an important walking part with high speed and fuel economy. The difference in the level of science and technology and the level of quality have a direct impact on the safety, comfort, energy saving and environmental protection of the vehicle.

Therefore, government departments should first increase their efforts in the establishment and supervision of technical standards for the automobile and tire industries, formulate advanced automobile and tire technology regulations and standards, learn advanced international practices, and establish safety and environmental protection for automotive and tire products. Technical regulations and standards system lay a good foundation for industrial transformation and upgrading.

The tire industry also has the problem of excess capacity. How do you view this?

Ding Yuhua: It is recommended that outdated production capacity be eliminated as soon as possible, and it is particularly clear that obsolete tires must be obsolete. At the same time, it is recommended that the country no longer increase production capacity for foreign-invested tire projects, focus on supporting national brands with strong research and development capabilities, and promote the use of technological innovation to lead the development of the industry.

At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the supervision of the tire industry and publish relevant rules on the basis of the “Tire Industry Policy” so as to implement the industrial policies, especially to prevent the regional protection of backward productivity, especially to strictly control the new expansion. project.

The international trade protection against tires and automotive products in China is becoming more and more serious, and there is a tendency to spread from developed countries to emerging markets. Under such circumstances, how should Chinese tire companies respond?

Ding Yuhua: In recent years, tires have become one of the focuses in the international trade survey of Chinese products. In particular, from November 1 this year, the European Union and South Korea will implement the new "Tire Labeling Act." These standards set strict technical thresholds to further increase the access standards for the tire market.

Therefore, companies should see that those low-cost and low-value-added products no longer have market competitiveness. To achieve a breakthrough in the international market, it is necessary to first improve technologies and processes to achieve a significant increase in product performance and speed up Low-carbon, green development speed, so that it meets the latest international regulations and standards.
