The new car is the first to report the 14 cars worth waiting in 2004 1
In 2004, anticipation was high for a new car that had already been generating buzz since December 26, 2003. According to reports from the Beijing Entertainment News, consumers were eager to learn more about how to drive and maintain their vehicles, making it essential for those planning to buy a car in the near future to keep an eye on what models would be available next year. Based on information gathered by this reporter, over 50 new models across various categories are expected to hit the market next year.
One of the most anticipated models is the new Cadillac SRX from Shanghai GM. Unveiled at this year’s North American International Auto Show, this SUV is set to be assembled in China next year. It features two advanced engines: a 4.6-liter Polaris V8 VVT™ engine and a 3.6-liter V6 VVT engine. The 4.6-liter version delivers a maximum power of 232 kW at 6,400 rpm and 420 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm, while the 3.6-liter engine also reaches impressive levels of 191 kW.
Another notable model is the Kia Kai Wah, a globally recognized MPV with over 250,000 units sold worldwide. In China, the 2.5-liter "King Wah" has already exceeded 3,000 sales this year. Dongfeng Yueda Kia will introduce a 3.5-liter version of the "King Wah" priced around 280,000 yuan, positioning it as a strong competitor to the Chevrolet GL8 and Honda Odyssey.
FAW-Volkswagen is also stepping up with the diesel version of the Bora sedan. Expected to launch early next year, this model offers improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and better environmental performance than its gasoline counterpart. With a fuel consumption rate of just 4.6 liters per 100 km at 90 km/h, the diesel Bora is ideal for commercial and family use.
Changan Ford will reintroduce the 2.5-liter Mondeo after discontinuing the 2.0-liter version. Launching in March 2005, the new Mondeo is expected to cost around 300,000 yuan, marking Changan Ford's entry into the mid-to-high-end segment.
Dongfeng Nissan will officially introduce the TEANA sedan next year, starting production in 2005. This mid-to-high-end model will be followed by six new Nissan models over the next few years, with the company expanding its production capacity in Guangdong.
Toyota's Corolla, known for its reliability and affordability, will be produced in Tianjin starting in March 2005. Available in 1.5L to 2.0L variants, the Corolla has been a top-selling model since its debut in 1966, with over 28 million units produced globally.
Finally, Dongfeng Peugeot is making a comeback with the new 307 model, scheduled for release before June 2004. Designed specifically for the Chinese market, it will compete against models like the Bora and Excelle, though specific details remain confidential for now.
With so many exciting models coming to market, car buyers have plenty to look forward to in the near future.
