It mainly presents four major features:

First, the yield contribution is greater than the area. From 2004 to 2012, China’s grain area increased by 178 million mu, an increase of 11.9%, and the contribution rate to grain production was 32.3%; grain production increased by 64.4 kg, an increase of 22.3%, and the contribution rate to grain production was 67.7%. It is said that one-third of the grain production increase in this nine-year period depends on the expansion of the area, and two-thirds is on the increase of the yield.

The second is the greatest increase in corn contribution. From 2004 to 2012, the corn area increased by 163 million mu, which was an increase of 45.2%, accounting for 91.6% of the increase in grain area. The output increased by 184.6 billion kg, an increase of 79.7%, accounting for 58.1% of the increase in grain output. Corn is the fastest growing variety in the main grain varieties and has become China's largest grain variety.

Third, the main producing areas have made outstanding contributions. In the past 9 years, 25 provinces and municipalities across the country have increased production, and 13 grain-producing provinces and districts have increased grain production by 208.6 billion jins, accounting for 88.3% of the country’s total increase. The total output has increased from 71% in 2003. 75.7% by 2012. In particular, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia increased production by 121.5 billion kilograms in 9 years, accounting for 38.2% of the national increase; the proportion of total output in the country increased from 17.7% in 2003 to 23.2% in 2012, becoming a national food The region with the fastest growth and greatest contribution.

Fourth, the technological content has increased. All localities vigorously promote grain for science and technology, accelerate the promotion of good breeds, strengthen the integration of technological integration, increase the intensity of technical extension services, and continuously increase the technological content of grain production.
