Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire, 11-17-15 (part 1)
At around 10:30 PM on November 17, 2015, Chicago firefighters were dispatched to 126 E 47th Street. Battalion 5 called for a Still & Box response due to a fire in a one-story commercial building. Initially, companies entered the structure but quickly pulled out and transitioned to a defensive strategy. Not long after, the fire escalated to a 2-11 Alarm status. The flames spread to an adjacent two-story building to the east. Eventually, the original structure collapsed, and the neighboring building sustained significant damage.
The firefighting effort involved multiple tower ladders deploying master streams, including a reserve Snorkel and various portable equipment. Engine 19 also contributed with its deck gun. Weather conditions during the incident were challenging, with strong winds and intermittent heavy rainfall.

This was certainly an intense situation, and it’s inspiring to see how the firefighters worked together under difficult circumstances. It’s always humbling to witness their dedication and bravery.
