A still and box alarm has been triggered at the scrap yard located on Marcey and Cortland Streets. The business involved is S & B Marcey & Cortland, and it appears there's a significant pile of scrap material that's currently engulfed in flames. Surrounding the fire are multiple large-diameter water lines being used to try and contain the situation.
The incident has been classified as a Level 1 Hazmat event by Battalion Chief 3, prompting additional safety measures to be put into place. The extent of the fire and the nature of the materials burning have raised concerns, but crews are working diligently to manage the situation.
