Public Company Information: NASDAQ:ADSK  SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Build Conference – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is making big moves in the world of digital and physical creation. At the Build Conference, the company announced two major collaborations aimed at pushing the boundaries of 3D design and manufacturing. First, Autodesk is working with Microsoft to integrate its 3D printing platform, Spark, directly into Windows 10. Second, it plans to make its 3D modeling tools compatible with Microsoft's HoloLens, a mixed reality headset. This first step involves embedding Spark, Autodesk’s 3D printing software, into Windows 10. This integration will give users a more streamlined and reliable way to manage 3D printing across different printers, materials, and software. To further support this effort, Autodesk will offer Spark APIs for free to Microsoft developers, encouraging innovation and growth in the 3D printing industry. Additionally, Autodesk will join Microsoft as a founding member of the 3D Manufacturing Format (3MF) Consortium, helping to establish a universal standard for 3D file sharing and printing. “We’re reaching a turning point in 3D printing,†said Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President of Developer Platform & Evangelism at Microsoft. “With the Spark platform optimized for Windows 10, we're giving developers the tools they need to confidently explore this new frontier in additive manufacturing.†The second initiative focuses on integrating Autodesk’s 3D models into the HoloLens environment. This means that professionals using software like Autodesk Maya or Fusion 360 can now view their designs in a mixed reality setting. For game developers and filmmakers, this opens up new possibilities for immersive storytelling. For engineers and designers, it allows them to visualize full-scale models during the early stages of product development, reducing the need for expensive physical prototypes. In the future, users might create 3D models using Fusion 360, view them through HoloLens, and then prepare them for printing on Spark-compatible devices—all within a seamless workflow. “3D printing has huge potential, but it’s still too complicated and unreliable for many people,†said Samir Hanna, Vice President and General Manager of Consumer and 3D Printing at Autodesk. “By partnering with Microsoft, we're taking a big step toward making 3D printing more accessible and user-friendly for both businesses and individuals.†About Autodesk Autodesk empowers people to imagine, design, and create a better world.
