In addition to this new unit, the department recently completed a full restoration of their historic 1925 Stoughton pumper. According to local firefighter and photographer Mark Gaunky, the project was led by retired Lieutenant Jim Carew, who rescued the vehicle from being scrapped. The restoration was comprehensive, with over 75% of the original parts preserved. The pumper features a 350 GPM pump and carries 150 gallons of water. Originally donated to the village by Cardinal George Mundelein as a gesture of gratitude after the town changed its name to the Village of Mundelein, the engine served the community for more than two decades. The original purchase price was $7,500, while the restoration cost came to $65,000—showcasing the dedication of those who value the department's history.
