I was near the fire at 6643 S. Racine early Saturday morning, arriving just as the smoke began to clear. From what I could see, the fire seemed to have originated on the first floor, venting from the "B" side of the building. There were unverified rumors circulating about a deceased person being found once the flames were extinguished. However, it wasn’t clear if the individual was a victim of the fire or had passed away prior to it starting. No official updates or media reports had been released when I wrote this.
Attached below are some photos I took during the incident. These images capture various moments from the firefighting efforts, including firefighters climbing ladders and working inside the smoky structure. It was an intense scene, but everyone involved handled it professionally and with great focus.
