Crete Township Fire Protection District Station

The newest station for Crete Township is located at 26730 S. Stony Island Avenue. This image was captured by Bill Friedrich.

The Crete Township Fire Protection District, part of MABAS Division 27, operates three fire stations. Their fleet includes a range of fire engines from manufacturers like Pierce, E-ONE, Luverne, and Alexis. They also use Medtec ambulances and have three water tenders, with the most recent one built in 2011 by Alexis on a Freightliner M2 chassis.

In 1995, Crete Township joined several south suburban departments in ordering an engine from Luverne, mounted on an HME 1871 chassis. Two of these units featured the largest extended and raised cabs available at the time. One was assigned to Alsip, while the other remains in service with Crete Township, equipped with a fully enclosed pump operator panel.

Over the years, the Crete Township Fire Protection District has remained committed to modernization and safety, continuously upgrading their equipment to meet the needs of the community. Their dedication is reflected not only in the vehicles they operate but also in the historical preservation efforts, such as the restoration of classic fire apparatus. As they continue to evolve, the department remains a vital part of the local emergency services landscape.
