By Lynelle Cameron, Senior Director, Sustainability It's time to act. Today marks the release of our 7th sustainability report, "Sustainability in Action 2015." But as the challenges we face grow more urgent, it's no longer enough for companies like Autodesk to simply report on progress—we need to take bolder steps. That’s why today, I’m proud to announce that Autodesk is committing to power our entire business with 100% renewable energy. This isn’t just a goal—it’s a promise to our planet and future generations. I believe 2015 will be the year the world finally wakes up to the climate crisis. From individuals to corporations, from governments to investors, we all have a role to play in shaping a sustainable future. Climate change is the defining challenge of our time, and it demands collaboration across every sector and boundary. By making this commitment, we’re not only setting an example—we’re helping to accelerate the global shift toward clean energy. This decision builds on the momentum we’ve seen over the past year. We’ve launched new sustainability solutions for buildings, infrastructure, and manufacturing. We expanded our Cleantech Partner Program into China, one of the fastest-growing markets for clean technology. We also launched the Autodesk Foundation, the first foundation focused on funding people and organizations using design to solve the world’s biggest problems. Plus, we achieved our 19th LEED certification, now covering 32% of our total space, and reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 27% since 2009—on track with our science-based targets. But we know that progress is only meaningful if it leads to bigger action. That’s why we’re committed to working with environmental leaders, businesses, and communities to scale renewable energy in a way that benefits both people and the planet. As the world prepares for COP21 in Paris this December, there's real hope for a landmark climate agreement. Companies like ours are joining forces with nonprofits and governments to push for a future powered by clean energy. We're excited to join RE100, a global initiative led by The Climate Group, as part of our ongoing efforts with We Mean Business to drive corporate climate action. We also see great leadership at the local level. In California, where we’re based, cities like San Francisco are leading the charge with ambitious sustainability goals. As the city hosts the Conference of Mayors later this month, we look forward to collaborating with mayors around the world to design smarter, greener, and more resilient cities. Finally, we’re deeply inspired by our customers. From WindPax’s clean energy solutions in developing regions to QBotix’s solar tracking systems, they’re proving that design can lead the way in solving the world’s toughest challenges. The future of making things is about innovation within planetary boundaries—and that’s exactly what we’re working toward. Join us in building a cleaner, more sustainable future. Together, we can make a difference. Check out this infographic to learn more about our sustainability achievements from last year.
